Local Service District
The "dog days of summer" are upon
us, and hopefully you've found a way to beat the heat. If not, why not stop in and pay Annie a visit at the country store.
Treat yourself to a delicious ice-cream, or cool off with your favorite Slush Puppie flavour.
Be sure to take some time
this summer to enjoy the great places, activities, and areas our community has to offer. The golf course is in great shape,
so if you haven't already, make this the summer to try a round or two. The wharf and marina are great venues to get out
and enjoy the beauty of our river [hopefully you have a friend with a boat :) ]. The library/museum, and the newly opened
lighthouse offer some of the rich history of Tabusintac. The members of our local Legion are also proud to show you their
newly renovated space,...and the list goes on. As Old Home Week approaches, make this the summer you rediscover Tabusintac
with family and friends.
Lastly, as we all anticipate the arrive of "Old Home Week 2010", be mindfull of all
the planning and hard work the OHW committee put forth so that we may have a great time of reunion with friends and family.
Help out where you can, and be sure to take in as many events as your time and weary body allow. Together we can help ensure
that Old Home Week 2010 is a success.

making this once again another wonderful community project. Capturing our history through the latest technology is a great
service offered right here in Tabusintac.
The book is over 460 pages and covers the Boer War , WW1 &2 and the Korean
War Vets along with the War Brides and mention of those serving after wartime. It had taken close to two years to complete.
The project was made much easier with the help of students funded through the SEED Program, CAPYI Program and Federal
Student Program.
A special thank you to Carmel Robichaud our local MLA and to Tilly Gordon our Member of Parliament

Recipe of the Month
Blueberry Muffins: Preheat oven to 375 degrees
F (190 degrees C). Position rack in center of oven. Butter or line 12 muffin cups with paper liners.
In a large measuring
cup or bowl whisk together the yogurt, lightly beaten egg, oil, and vanilla extract.
In another large bowl whisk together
the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Remove 1 tablespoon of the dry ingredients and toss it with the blueberries.
With a rubber spatula fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir only until the ingredients are combined.
Gently stir in the blueberries. Do not over mix the batter or tough muffins will result.
Evenly fill the muffin cups
with the batter, using two spoons or an ice cream scoop. Place in the oven and bake for about 15 - 20 minutes or until a toothpick
inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool for about 5 minutes before removing
from pan.
Makes 12 muffins.

1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking
soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups (100 grams) fresh or frozen blueberries
*Note: If using frozen blueberries,

Hello Everyone.
Summer is in
full swing now with Old Home Week underway and the wonderfully hot weather to accompany it. This summer, our main focus is
our project: "Educating the Stakeholders of the Tabusintac Watershed on the Importance of Water Quality"
We
ask this summer that you consider Best Management Practices in order to keep up the diversity of the Tabusintac Watershed;
you can save water quickly and efficiently by: installing a low flow shower head, turning the water off while brushing your
teeth, and as always, make sure to get septic tanks and wells checked and maintained, as they are a major part of your health,
and are a link to making the Tabusintac Watershed cleaner and more efficient.
Community Aquatic Monitoring Program will
be July 23rd and August 24th. If anyone would like to participate; please contact the office. There are 6 different sites
to sample; therefore, if you can make it to one of the sites, sampling does take place normally from 9:00am until 1:00pm.
Have a Safe Summer!

Tabusintac Chalets
Tabusintac Chalets are now moving into their 5th year of operations. You may recall that at Old Home Week 2005
there was a cottage set up at the community hall. No one said it would be easy and there were times that it became very difficult
indeed to keep the project on track, but here we are 5 years later. One of the biggest obstacles was to satisfy PNB Department
of Health requirements. This grossly expanded the budget and the sewage system that is in place is likely better than the
Village of Neguac's.
We encourage all visitors to drive through the site and have a closer look. Of course
the individual cottages have been booked out solid for OHW, virtually since the inception at OHW 2005. We are looking at selling
several cottage lots at the east side of Riverside Drive for some limited further development. We also have some larger lots,
ideal for a more permanent retirement home although all the present chalets are perfectly liveable year-round. There may be
a limited number of the present shareholders willing to sell their interest in their respective original cottage. If you are
interested in booking a fully furnished cottage for any time in the future or perhaps in owning your own piece of real estate
on the Tabusintac River, call the office at 779-8222 or just drop in. In the summer we share office space with the golf course
so maybe you can play a round while you are there!
Have a great summer!
