Recipe of the Month

BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
• 1/2 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 2 cups ketchup
• 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Directions
1. In a medium bowl, mix together onion soup mix, sugar, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Do not use until the last few minutes of cooking, because this sweet sauce will burn if cooked for too long or over too high heat.

Joke of the Month

A Fishy Story
Two avid fishermen go on a fishing trip. They rent all the equipment: the reels, the rods, the wading suits, the rowboat, the car, and even a cabin in the woods. They spend a fortune.

The first day they go fishing, but they don't catch anything. The same thing happens on the second day, and on the third day. It goes on like this until finally, on the last day of their vacation, one of the men catches a fish.

As they're driving home they're really depressed. One guy turns to the other and says, "Do you realize that this one lousy fish we caught cost us fifteen hundred dollars?"

The other guy says, "Wow! It's a good thing we didn't catch any more!"

Gardening Tips

Gardening Rule: When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Animal pests don't like strong-smelling plants. Surround your garden with marigolds, zinnias, or wormwood. Sneaky yet easy: To keep small animals out of your garden, cut an old hose in three-foot lengths. Place the pieces around your garden. These fake snakes will scare away small animals

HOW TO OVERCOME LIFE'S DISAPPOINTMENTS -- From the disillusionment of dreams unfulfilled, the pain of job loss, a child's failures, divorce and abadonment, and illness we all face disappointments and frustrations that life inherently brings our way. These kinds of disappointments often times leaves us scarred, bitter, and defeated. Starting Sunday, June 06, join us here at St. Andrew's United Church for a 4 week sermon series as we look at how to respond to heartbreak with understanding rather than bitterness and despair. Join us as we learn how to respond to disappointments with faith and hope for the future.

Schoolwide Enrichment Projects:
Students at Tabusintac Rural School have been busy working on clusters. Students have been grouped into groups or clusters according to their interests. There are seven clusters: in the K-4 grade level there is Building, Puppets, and Pets; in grade 5-8 category there is Building; Social Action, Tourism and "Invitech". Each cluster will create a product. On Tuesday, June 15 there will be a special celebration at the school. Everyone is invited to come to the school to see what the students have created. Students are hoping for a huge turnout, so mark your calendar! Details on the afternoon will be posted on the school website in June. Please note that the Pet Cluster will have donations cans placed throughout the community.

There will be a meeting for the parents of grade 8 and 12 students on May 17th @ 6:30 at the Tabusintac Hall regarding the graduation banquet. The meeting will be to discuss a date, time, location, guest speakers, etc. for the banquet. We hope everyone can make it. If not, please feel free to contact the school with your ideas @ 779-4120.
