Tabusintac Local Service District News
Spring seems to be here so summer cannot be
to far behind.
The breakfasts will be starting on May 16th 7:30 to 10:30, the old favorite Lumber Jack and Lumber Jill
with homemade toast will be on the menu.
We will be putting out the docks at the marina on Saturday May 23, volunteers
would be appreciated. Plans for construction on the interpretation centre are set to begin this week.
Big garbage day
will be the week of 25 to 29 May 09.
Please do not put ashes in garbage. It can catch fire in the garbage truck. It
can be used as fertilizer
As the LSD and TCDCI have both been denied summer students we are looking for volunteers to
adopt a flower bed in the community and/or to help out with park and marina maintenance.
Colin Harding, LSD Chairman
Tabusintac Community Centre Inc.
Members of the Tabusintac Community
Centre Inc. will be attending a meeting May 19th with Minister of Education Kelly Lamrock, ACOA Minister Keith Ashfield
and MP Tilly O'Neill Gordon in Fredericton to discuss the funding issues.
There has been a request to the federal
government for $300,000. This is the remaining amount of funding required to move this project - the construction of a new
school and community center - forward.
A public meeting will be held soon after to update the community on the status
of the project.
We appreciate the support community members have shown to this project as we continue in our efforts
to "Build a future for all ages".

Thank you for everyone who has participated in our last year's project "Measuring the Ecological Footprint
of Waterfront Property in the Tabusintac Watershed". Also thank you to our sponsors the Environmental Trust Fund and
EcoAction.
The TWA has been approved for a new project for the 2009-2010 fiscal year- "Freshwater Mussel Inventory
of the Tabusintac Watershed" funding is provided by the Environmental Trust Fund and Shell Environmental Fund. This is
very important project for our watershed because freshwater mussels are used as bio-indicators for the health of our streams,
tributaries and rivers. Freshwater mussels' surveys have been and are currently being conducted throughout New Brunswick
and much of Canada.
We will need volunteers and stakeholders to participate for this study to be a success!

Jokes
Illegal Lobster fishing
After a day of fishing in the ocean, a fisherman
is walking from the pier carrying two lobsters in a bucket. He is approached by the Game Warden, who asks him for his fishing
license.
The fisherman says to the warden, "I did not catch these lobsters. They are my pets. Everyday I come down
to the water and whistle, and these lobsters jump out, and I take them for a walk, only to return for them at the end of the
day."
The warden, not believing him, reminds him that it is illegal to fish without a license.
The fisherman
turns to the warden and says, "If you don't believe me, then watch!" as he throws the lobsters back into the
water.
The warden says, "Now whistle to your lobsters and show me that they will come out of the water."
The fisherman turns to the warden and says, "What lobsters?"
Why did the lobster blush???
