The Tabusintac Community Center Inc. continues to pursue a new school / Community Center facility for the community of Tabusintac.

Our local MLA Minister Robichaud, and Minister Lamrock continue to support our project. We currently are awaiting a decision on an application for federal funding from ACOA. We are hopeful in this regard and if successful the project will be eligible for the provincial capital budget in late fall.

We appreciate all the support and cooperation we are receiving from all levels of government and community members.

Tabusintac Country Market

The Country Market continues to be the "spot" to be each Saturday morning. Summer visitors are happy to have a place to go so they can meet with old friends and relatives.

They are enjoying the wide selection of items each vendor has available. And they like the hearty breakfasts served up by the Tabusintac Community Development Corporation Inc. and other non-profit community organizations.

I've heard many describe it as a "mini-old home week" and praise the community for the great idea. Many who thought the market would not continue as it has for three years applaud its success.

But you've got to get up early to enjoy all that the market has to offer. The doors open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 11 a.m. Breakfast is served from opening until 10:30 a.m.

And there really is something for everyone. Drop in and see for yourself. The following regular vendors would love to visit with you!

Jokes

2 points of view

My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken woman swigging her drink, as she sat alone at a nearby table.

My wife asks, 'Do you know her?'

'Yes,' I sighed. 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she started drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.'

'My God!' says my wife. 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'

So you see, there really are two ways to look at everything.

If Life Were Like A Computer:

You could add/remove someone in your life using the control panel.

You could put your kids in the recycle bin and restore them when you feel like it!

You could improve your appearance by adjusting the display settings.

You could turn off the speakers when life gets too noisy.

You could click on “find” (Ctrl, F) to recover your lost remote control and car keys.

To get your daily exercise, just click on "run"!

If you mess up your life, you could always press "Ctrl, Alt, Delete" and start all over!

Newcomer makes it  across  the Tabusintac River by surfboard I would like to bring to your attention, new friendly residents to your locality. Mr. Christian Samson and his lovely wife Brenda moved from Gatineau, Quebec to Tabusintac, over a year ago. They purchased a beautiful residence at 4810 Rte-11.

This last July 5 th, Christian & Brenda had a house warming barbecue at their home and invited many of their new Tabusintac friends, that Christian met at the Community Center, where he volunteers on Saturday mornings, preparing breakfast. His role is to cook the bacon strips for everyone, and as such he considers himself to be the "Bacon-Meister" Ha! Ha!

I had the pleasure of serving 5 years in the Canadian Army and "Sam" ... as all of Christian’s friends prefer to call him ... was my best buddy. Sam retired after 30 years from the Armed Forces with the proud rank of "Chief Warrant Officer" which is the highest Non-Commission Officer (N.C.O.) rank.

Sam doesn’t know that I am sending you this e-mail. I visited him in July for a week, and during my short stay at his home, he kept saying "One day I’m telling you Steven, I’ll be able to take my sail surfboard and make it across, from my house to the cemetery on the other side of the Tabusintac river."

And each day, when the wind or the waves were deemed ideal, he tried, never giving up. It was something for me to see my 60 years old friend, trying his hands at a sport that is usually practiced by much younger men. Its very hard to keep your balance standing up on the surfboard, while controlling the sail at the same time, over the waves.

He said jokingly "One day after I make it across, I’ll be recognized as the first crazy man who made it across and who brought surfboard sailing to Tabusintac."

Well today he called me all excited and said laughing "I did it !! I did it !! All the way across to the cemetery. I told you I would, didn’t I? Well I did, finally !!"

Sam & his wife Brenda ...(and their 3 dogs)... are the nicest couple you’ll ever meet. I’m glad they found the beautiful Tabusintac community, for their new place to live, among very friendly people.
