Recipe of the Month

Rhubarb Cobbler

Ingredients:
1 cup flour
2 tablespoon margarine
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tablespoons milk
3 cups rhubarb, chopped
3 ounce package strawberry gelatin
1/2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 stick margarine

Cut the 2 tablespoons margarine into the flour until crumbly. Add eggs, milk, baking powder and salt. Make a soft dough and press into an 8x8 inch pan.

Press the dough up the sides of the pan. Place the rhubarb evenly in the

bottom of the pan . Sprinkle with the strawberry gelatin(dry). In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar and margarine to make a topping. Sprinkle over the gelatin. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until rhubarb is tender

 Joes Tips for picking rhubarb.  Always pull rhubarb up, do not cut it or break

 it off.  This causes the cut or broken stem to rot.  I like to carry a large, sharp

knife with me to the rhubarb patch and whack off the big leaf and bottom of the stalk in one fell swoop.  All the messy stuff stays in the garden or compost.

Always pull up the "bloom" of a rhubarb plant if and when it comes up.  For some reason it isn't good for rhubarb stalk production (that's what my dad always said anyway!).  Pick it down regularly, but do not take every stalk or the plant will die out....the plant needs those leaves to stay alive

SOFTBALL:  Please contact Lloyd Ross at 776-9188 if you would like to book

It is a great form of exercise for all ages.  On a final note for softball, we are looking for anyone interested in starting up T-ball for the kids some evening

during the week.  Support would be provided for this endeavor if there is anyone interested in undertaking this.

CANADA DAY:  Look for an announcement in the next Tabby Tattler regarding Canada Day activities on July 1st.  We had lots of fun last year with an excellent turn out, so we hope to do it again.

Thank You!

To all the people of Tabusintac and area, a sincere "thank you" for the prayers, messages of hope ,cards, flowers and gifts received during my recent illness.

I am especially grateful for the prayers, felt protected, and had surgery without fear. Powerful medicine!

Again, thank you.

Jokes

A man and his wife were sitting in the living room and he said to her,
"Just so you know, I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on
some machine and fluids from a bottle.  If that ever happens, just pull the plug."
His wife got up, unplugged the TV and threw out
all of his beer.

Little Pete came home from the playground with a bloody nose, black eye, and

torn clothing. It was obvious he’d been in a bad fight and lost. While his father

was patching him up, he asked his son what happened.
“Well, Dad,” said Pete, “ I challenged Larry to a duel. And, you know, I gave him his choice of weapons.”
“Uh-huh,” said the father, “that seems fair.”
“I know, but I never thought he’d choose his sister!”

Springtime

How beautiful is springtime—

The Flowers all in bloom;

It seems that Mother Nature

And the Good Lord are in tune.

To see the tulips open up

Each one its different hue;

Indeed it is a miracle

That only God can do.

Each stem so straight and perfect

Pointing upward to the sky;

I marvel a their beauty

As I go passing by.

The cherry trees all blooming,

Humming bees a- flying round;

And their flakey snow-white blossoms

Falling gently to the ground

As I sit and gaze and wonder

And watch each petal fall,

I ask myself in silence—

What’s the meaning of it all?

But, of one thing I am certain,

And I’m sure I’ll always be—

That the Good Lord made them beautiful

For folks like you and me.
