Tabusintac
Local Service
Summer
is here and time to celebrate and invite family, friends and visitors to enjoy the many events, facilities and hospitality
our community provides.
We are
also pleased that planning is in place to have Literacy New Brunswick offer programs at our Community Hall. A classroom and
equipment will be established to begin services in September. Information to
follow as plans develop. Anyone wishing to obtain their GED or parts needed of GED (High School equivalency) please contact the Access
Center at 779-4103
Our
community is also invited to participate in the World Acadian Congress planned for August 2009. The plan is to have all communities in the Acadian Peninsula participate with activities that highlight the Peninsula’s beauty, innovation, talent and hidden treasures.
In support of this we invite all groups, organizations and interested individuals to attend our next Local Service
District meeting to be held on Monday, August 6th at 7 pm.
The
meeting will discuss what interest, opportunities and involvement you wish to participate in with this exposure to a world
congress.
Thanks
for your continued community spirit.

Cancer Society Campaign
This
fall,in September and October 2007,the Tabusintac region will be
visited
by your neighbors seeking donations for a particular fund-raising
effort. The money collected on behalf of
The Canadian Cancer Society will
go toward
assisting families in our area with expenses associated with cancer treatments.
To accomplish
this important endeavor, volunteers are needed; an example of
an area
to cover would be Grattan Road, and so on. William
Blake will be happy
to accept your names--the more the better!--and I can then pass out the kits
you
will need(reciept books, etc.).
Please
look for more information on this campaign, which is also being
organized
for the Tracadie, Brantville, Neguac and Lagaceville areas.
I will
be posting notices in the community where possible, as well as in
the Church Bulletins, with updates in The Tabby Tattler as needed.
Please
help us make this campaign a success!

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Basic Strawberry Smoothie Recipe
This is the simplest strawberry smoothie
recipe I use. It takes less than 5 minutes to create a wonderful smoothie dessert for your guests.
The basic recipe is for 4 servings,
just double or split in half to get either two or 8 servings of this delightful stawberry smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk - 2 cups ice cream
- 2 cups strawberries - 1/2 cup sugar - 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Directions:
Pour all ingredients in blender except
the sugar. When the smoothie is smooth, (I like that expression!) taste it and add sugar according to your taste. Pour into
glasses and serve immediately.
If you don't have lemon juice, don't
despair. The strawberry smoothie will taste exceptionally even without it.
Sugar?
The sugar is always a point of discussion:
With sugar or without? If yes, how much?
Tip: It's always better to have too
little sugar than too much. This way your guests can add sugar if they want to.

Hello to All!
Hope everyone is getting
out and enjoying the nice days that we do have or in between all the rain showers we have been receiving. Remember that within our watershed that there are a lot of activities that we do from exploring our biota
to enjoying a picnic along our rivers or many tributaries.
Once again this year
we will be doing our Community Aquatic Monitoring Program (CAMP) and would appreciate any volunteers. If anyone is interested in attending or to receive more information about the program you may call 779-1185
or drop in at the TWA office. Our next sampling date is FRIDAY, JULY 27TH, 2007.
The CAMP program is
conducted in partnership with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO). The guiding principle of CAMP is to involve community
groups, such as the TWA, in monitoring the health of local estuaries within the southern Gulf
of St Lawrence region. The CAMP program itself involves monthly beach seining, from May
to September, at six different sites in the estuary. At each site, we collect, count and identify fish and
crustaceans. Water quality data and aquatic vegetation is also monitored. The CAMP program is important to the TWA because
it allows us to directly monitor the health of the Tabusintac Bay.

A
little Humor
KNOCK ON WOOD
Three sisters ages 72, 74, and
76 live in a house together. One night the
76 year old draws a bath. She
puts her foot in and pauses.
She yells down the stairs "was
I getting in or out of the bath?".
The 74 year old yells back "I don't know. I'll come up and see."
She starts
up the stairs and pauses. Then she yells "was I going up
the
stairs or down?"
The 72 year old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters.
She
shakes her head and says "I sure hope I never get that forgetful."
She knocks on wood for good measure. She then yells
"I'll come up and
help
both of you as soon as I see who's at the door".
Tabusintac Centennial Memorial Library and Museum
The
committee wish to thank everyone who supported us at our Annual Strawberry Tea on July 12. Funds raised go towards the ongoing
maintenance of the building. We are in the process of installing new flooring in the museum and upgrading some of the
lighting.
We encourage
all community residents to visit the museum and have a look around. You might be surprised at what you will find there.
The
committee will be at the Tabusintac Country Market on July 28 serving up plain or blueberry pancakes and sausage. We hope
to see you there.
