Tabusintac Local Service DistrictWe're in the final throws of 2011, and no doubt a good many
are checking their lists, and checking them twice, as Christmas is right around the corner.
Speaking of Christmas, with
the recent election of the L.S.D. committee on Dec 1st, we are later than usual in scheduling our annual tree lighting. That
said, the new committee is in place, the tree is up, and we're ready to flick the switch. We welcome everyone to the community
hall on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7:00 p.m. for light refreshments and entertainment as we light the tree, and mingle a bit with
Santa.
An expression of thanks:
The L.S.D. committee would like to thank outgoing members Don Robertson and Ron
Eves for the insight and time they both lent to the committee over the past two years.
Thanks to David MacWilliams for
his time leading the janitorial work at the hall. David resigns his duties effective Dec. 31st.
The L.S.D. committee
would like to Gail Savoy for her leadership in overseeing the country market. The community sure appreciates all the Saturday
mornings she, along with all the vendors, and organizations put into making an inviting environment for locals and visitors
alike.
Thanks to April Vye for all the work she puts into getting the Tabby Tattler every month. The status of the Access
Center is changing somewhat, but we hope to have April provide this service going forward.
Anytime you start listing
names, you run the risk of forgetting someone, and no doubt I have,...but you know who you are. If you've volunteered
at all to make your community a better place, our hat's off to you as well. Thank you!
Lastly, on behalf of the below
members of Local Service District, we wish you all a "Merry Christmas, and all the best to you and yours in 2012!"

Aunt Mildred Brunton. She absolutely loved Tabusintac and has kept in touch
with friends she grew up with over the years in Tabusintac. She has lived in New Westminster since the 1950s. She was the
oldest child of Duncan & Annie (Murray) McIntosh and is now 95 yrs. old but failing in health and recently hospitalized
waiting for a room in a nursing home. Her mind is still as sharp as a tack and I want to give an address where her friends
can send a card. She looks for mail every day. Mail can be sent to her in care of her daughter Donna.

How are real Christmas trees beneficial
to our environment?
Christmas trees produce oxygen and protect wildlife
CO2 is taken out of the atmosphere,
counteracting the human use of fossil fuels. Trees also act as air pollution filters and can remove up to 13 tons of airborne
pollutants per acre per year. Christmas tree farms are havens for a wide variety of bird and mammal species including grosbeaks,
sparrows, chickadees, foxes, coyotes, mice, voles, and squirrels. The "edge effect" created by a stand of Christmas
trees next to a woodlot or an open field is known to increase wildlife species diversity.

Hello Stakeholders and Best Wishes to All During the Holidays!
TWA has been out and about speaking with federal
and provincial agencies along with other non-profit organizations to ensure the Tabusintac Watershed will remain sustainable.
Tabusintac River is known for its pristine waters and biodiversity of habitats and ecosystems. Sometimes we don't realize
on how lucky we are to have the diversity of natural resources within our reach; from clean waters to clean air.
Also,
it's a great time of year to explore the watershed and notice the changes that have taken place in relatively short time
within the same given area due to the change of weather.
If you have any questions regarding any topics of the environment
or how to reduce our impact; please feel free to contact the office!
